Making new clothes out of old clothes

I made my 2.5 year old niece a dress out of her mom's old skirt and tank top. It wasn't very hard and turned out really cute. I just used a shirt that was one size too big for her as a guide(since she can't wear it till next summer) and off I went! It was really cool making something new out of something old. I think it will make a perfect summer dress for some pictures! I can't wait for her to wear it! I also made her a skirt from one of my old skirts. Repurposing/upcycling is really addicting!

3 day weekend

Since I work at a bank we got colombus day off making a wonderful 3 day weekend. Usually I spend 3 day weekends doing awesome things. Instead I got stuck with a horrible cold! Saturday I spent most of the day sleeping then I went out to dinner and a movie with one of my best friends. The food and movie and friend time was wonderful but the headache and stomach full of snot was not! :( Sunday I stayed home and slept. Sean was wonderful and came home from working at church with chicken noodle soup! Monday I decided I was well enough to go to the zoo with Sean, my twin sister and her daughter Brooklynn, little Eva my sister baby sits and my sisters friend and her son.I Seriously had a great time but was coughing, sneezing and a headache the whole time. I slept the whole way home too. Probably shouldn't of went but how can I not on such a beautiful fall day!?

Sean and I both agreed the zoo is so much more fun(and interesting) with kids! Since I over did it yesterday I took the day off from work today to recover!

Sewing sewing sewing all night long

Well not really all night long but a few hours in the evening. I love new projects! I get so bored sewing the same thing all the time. So I took up 2 projects for friends and they turned out wonderful!

As you can see these pillows were ugly. My friend wanted them updated for a reading corner at a school she is teaching at. She found some awesome yellow and white striped sheets at the thrift store and I went to work. Only took me a couple of hours to make these pillow covers. I added the flowers to the smaller one just for fun!

And my sister is going to two baby showers this month and needed a fun and unique gift for the two baby girls. What is better than hand made fabric shoes? Aren't they ADORABLE!?

What we have been up to

Our friends Cameron and Laryssa got married and we were honored to be the photographers! It was great experience as it was an outdoor wedding and it rained. We still got some awesome shots though. These are just a few of the hundreds taken. I think the Washington rain added a unique charm to their photos.

Shannon and Joe also got hitched and we got to take their wedding photos too. I have known Shannon for 12 years so it was a blessing to take her wedding photos. Both weddings were great experience and Sean and I learning so much through these opportunities! We also had a couple fun portrait shoots I will post pictures of asap! This happened all in the last couple weeks! YIKES!

Finished my painting

I finished my painting! It was fun and challenging since I have never painted the ocean and I have only painted one person before. I just know my cousin will love it! Now time for some MAJOR sewing and then another painting project. The canvas I will be working on is 30 inches by 40 inches. Can't wait!

Working on a painting

I have been so busy! I am working on a custom painting for my cousin. (and working 40+ hours, cooking, needing to sew, spending time with Sean, ect) I love painting though and I am so glad that I have continued to do it after high school and that Sean encourages me to do it. It is a wonderful creative outlet. This particular painting is of my cousin's daughter Ashley.
First thing I do is sketch out the picture.  I only sketched out Ashley because the rest of the picture is easy to do with a paint brush.

Saturday

Saturday is my favorite day. I wake up when I want to and I will sit on the couch with the Bible and read God's word with the blinds open. It is something I just recently started doing on Saturdays but I am enjoying the peace and quiet of my morning devotion. This morning I read 1 Peter 2:9-12 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light." What a breath of fresh air!
I have many things to do today! Wash some new fabric, MAJOR GROCERY SHOPPING must be done today! Babysit 4 darling girls for a couple hours, wash car and put it on Craigs list, and hang out with the Seanster. And hopefully I will get a bit of sewing done. I have a special order that needs to be received before July 4th! Well we will see how the day goes!!
